Can I put coffee capsules and pods in the disposer?

A food waste disposer, also known as a garbage disposal, grinds scraps right in the sink: here is what happens with coffee capsules and pods.

Coffee capsules and pods

No, not with any model.

They aren't food. Coffee grounds are fine.

How it behaves in the disposer

Coffee capsules and pods are not food, and a food waste disposer grinds food: everything else is a foreign body. The grind would never be fine enough to flow: it would stop at the first bend of the drain. Plastic and aluminium never go in a disposer. Paper pods can be opened: the coffee goes in the sink, the paper wherever the packaging says. They aren't food. Coffee grounds are fine. The right place is the waste stream it belongs to, not the sink, which does not dispose of it.
