How it behaves in the disposer

Chestnut shells look harmless, but in the drain they behave differently. It would never reach fine particles in the chamber: it would sit in the trap, or further along where the pipe narrows. The outer shell is leathery and the inner skin fibrous and sticky: it goes in the food waste bin, even when the chestnuts are cooked. Hard and fibrous: they go in the food waste bin. The right route is the food waste bin, with the rest of the kitchen scraps.
