How it behaves in the disposer

Citrus peels are soft tissue with plenty of water inside, so there is little resistance to the grind. One grinding stage is enough, and nothing is left behind in the trap. Cut into pieces they grind easily. Whole orange or grapefruit halves should be cut down first, because they fill the chamber. They leave a fresh scent in the drain. With that one precaution it becomes an ordinary scrap. If you produce a lot of it, it is worth checking your water utility’s rules.
