How it behaves in the disposer

Broccoli and cauliflower stalks: the point is long fibre, the hardest test for a disposer, because it wraps instead of breaking. Only the top-range models get particles this fine: with the basic ones the residue stops earlier. The stalk is hard and full of fibre: cut it into thin rounds. Alternatively, peel and cook it: the inside is tender. It's fibrous: cut it short. With that one precaution it becomes an ordinary scrap. If you produce a lot of it, it is worth checking your water utility’s rules.
