How it behaves in the disposer

Fish with head, bones and skin: how well it grinds depends on the texture, and this one asks the disposer for extra work. Only the top-range models get particles this fine: with the basic ones the residue stops earlier. Fine bones and small backbones are fine on the top models; heads and backbones of large fish go in the food waste bin. In pieces, a little at a time. With that one precaution it becomes an ordinary scrap. If you produce a lot of it, it is worth checking your water utility’s rules.
